Anastasios Polyzos

Founder, CEO and Chief Scientist

Associate Professor Anastasios (Tash) Polyzos is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist of Flow-AI. He is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Melbourne and an internationally recognised leader in synthetic chemistry, photochemistry, and continuous-flow manufacturing. Anastasios has pioneered new methodologies that merge advanced catalysis, automation, and digital technologies to enable the scalable and sustainable manufacture of pharmaceuticals. His research and entrepreneurial ventures have been at the forefront of transforming chemical innovation into real-world manufacturing solutions.

 

As Founder and CEO of Flow-AI, Anastasios combines scientific excellence with entrepreneurial vision to build a platform that redefines pharmaceutical manufacturing. Under his leadership, Flow-AI is creating advanced, data-driven solutions that address critical medicine supply challenges and position Australia at the forefront of global biotech innovation.

Ivan Mellado

Founder / Executive Director

Ivan is a commercialisation and early-stage venture professional who has played a leading role in establishing entrepreneurial businesses focused on commercialising groundbreaking fundamental science. He brings decades of experience in leading and financing early-stage ventures, early-stage team building and market development, IP development and licensing, and working closely with founders and early investors. Ivan has a strong reputation as a director and chairman across numerous ventures, and is an active investor and advisor in technology-driven businesses. Mr Mellado holds a Master of Law (IP) and B. Business (Marketing) degrees and is a Graduate of the AICD.

Dr. Milena Czyz

Chief Process Chemist

Dr. Milena Czyz is an organic synthetic chemist with expertise in advanced methodology development and continuous-flow chemistry. Her research spans complex molecule synthesis and catalysis, including transition-metal catalysis, photochemistry, electrochemistry, and process intensification using flow-based approaches. Milena earned her PhD at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) before undertaking postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Michigan, CSIRO (as an OCE Fellow), and the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Chemical Industries at the University of Melbourne. Milena has made significant contributions to both fundamental and strategic research in synthetic organic chemistry, while also leading industry-focused collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.

 

As Chief Process Chemist, Milena drives the design and optimisation of the company’s chemical processes, ensuring that cutting-edge synthetic methods are translated into robust, scalable, and sustainable manufacturing solutions.

Tom Andrews

Chief Architect, ML/AI

Tom Andrews is a specialist in applied mathematics, programming, and data science, with deep expertise in applying advanced computational methods to the chemical sciences. He has completed his PhD studies at the University of Melbourne, where his research focused on developing state-of-the-art techniques for the autonomous optimisation of continuous flow synthesis platforms. Tom holds a BE(Hons)/BSc conjoint degree from the University of Auckland, specialising in Engineering Science and majoring in both Chemistry and Computer Science. This rare combination of expertise across computational science, chemistry, and engineering enables him to design and implement machine learning and AI systems that bridge digital technology with advanced chemical manufacturing.

As Chief Architect of ML/AI, Tom leads the development of the company’s intelligent platforms, ensuring that data-driven insights, automation, and predictive models are embedded at the core of our biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing solutions.
